Patishapta Pitha Recipe|How to Make Patishapta Pitha?

Patishapta pitha is a traditional pancake or pitha mainly popular in the west Bengal and Bangladesh. The most popular winter festival in Bengal is Poush Sankranti and it is celebrated by pitha (a category of sweets that are prepared using rice along with milk, coconut, date, etc). Patishapta pitha is a type of pitha prepared by coconut, rice, maida and milk. It is a very quick and easy recipe and you can make in about 30 minutes.

Non-bengali people don’t think it’s only for Bengali, prepared it, I am sure you will enjoy Patishapta Pitha and love it.

Ingredients of Patishapta Pitha—

For the filling of Patishapta pitha—
  • 2 cup grated Coconut
  • 1 cup Jiggery
  • ½ tsp Cardamom powder
For the crepe of Patishapta Pitha—
  • 2 cup refine flour (Maida)
  • ½ cup Semolina (sooji)
  • 5 tbsp Rice flour
  • ½ cup Sugar
  • 2 cup Milk (more depending on needs)
  • 1 pinch salt

                     How to Make Patishapta Pitha

Prepare the filling of Patishapta Pitha—
  • At first Heat a pan on medium flame and add the grated coconut, jiggery keep stirring the mixture till it has become sticky. Then Keep aside and let it cool. It should not be very dry.
Prepare the patishapta—
  • First of all take a big bowl to combine refine flour, semolina, rice flour and sugar, now add milk slowly to make a smooth batter set and aside it for 30 mint
  • Now take a nonstick tawa then turn the heat on medium flame and put oil/ghee with a piece of eggplant (bengan).
  • After that Pour a ladle of batter on the hot pan and spread it quickly with back of the ladle.
  • Now Wait for 30 second then add the filling (2 table spoon) to one side of the crepe and start rolling the crepe from that side then press the crepe with a spatula and flip it. Just look the above picture.
  • Then Wait till the colour is light brown and place it on the plate. Repeat the stapes to make more patishaptas.
  • Now Serve it hot or cold.
